A direct railway line connects Schiphol International Airport with Amsterdam Central Station, and is the fastest and most convenient form of transport to the city centre. However, if you have luggage and you prefer to be dropped directly at your hotel, I strongly recommend taking the Schiphol Hotel Shuttle. A return ticket from the airport to Sofitel Legend Amsterdam The Grand located very close to the Red Light District in Amsterdam, cost me Euro 27. I did have to wait for about 20 minutes for the shuttle to fill up and it took about half an hour to reach the hotel. Since I had luggage, it worked out to be the easiest way for me to reach the hotel. You can book your tickets directly online on www.schipholhotelshuttle.nl or buy them at the airport.

For your return journey, you have to inform the front desk at the hotel within 24 hours of your pick-up time, to arrange for the shuttle.
