I stayed at the Grand Hotel, Oslo for two nights on my way back from Tromso in northern Norway. I had a superior double room with a balcony that opened up to the glorious and historic city square. The room itself was designed in an elegant old style luxury with a touch of modern.
The day I arrived at the hotel, it was also the International Woman's Day. On opening the door to the balcony, I was amazed to discover thousands of woman walking across the city square for the Woman's Day March in the falling snow. The old world charm of the room together with the Woman's March added a touch of the surreal to my first evening in Oslo. The next morning I enjoyed a delectable two hour 4-course breakfast in bed along with views of the city center of Oslo from my room balcony. I had connected with a local later in the day to show me Oslo and since there would be no time for lunch, breakfast would have to be my main meal. Here are some pictures that I clicked of the room. The only thing I missed in my room was a plush carpet for some extra coziness :).
