I made a solo-trip to the Arctic Circle in early March this year and stayed at the Lyngen Lodge - a luxury boutique resort located 500 km north of the Arctic Circle (approx. three hours by road from Tromso) in northern Norway. Besides participating in a variety of Arctic activities like snow-mobile safari, dog-sledging and a boat cruise through the Norwegian fjords and experiencing the Northern Lights that are seen directly over the lodge, I also enjoyed quite times of solitude in the early morning and late evening hours, gazing at the stunning Arctic scenery of the Lyngen fjords and the Arctic sea from the lodge. One evening I sat in the outside jacuzzi as I watched the sun magically go down behind the fjords. On a cloudless, clear night, one could see the heavenly dance of the aurora borealis - the Northern Lights, which was followed by a three course meal in the lodge's dining room.
