The Kansai Airport Transportation Enterprise (KATE) offers a limousine bus service between Osaka and the Kansai International Airport. The service is offered from different locations in Osaka like the Osaka Station or Kintetsu Uehommachi/Shinsaibashi or Nanko/Tenpozan (Kaiyukan) Universal Studios Japan to Terminal 1 at the Kansai International Airport. There is a free shuttle between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at the airport. The bus stops en route at a number of hotels and the KATE website www.kate.co.jp is the best place to check for bus timetable and fares. Tickets must be purchased on the day of travel. Tickets purchased one day before are not valid. They can be bought from the vending machines at the various bus stops or the hotel's front desk incase the shuttle is stopping at the hotel. Not all vending machines accept credit cards or IC cards, in which case tickets may be purchased only with cash.

I was staying at the Imperial Hotel in Osaka and took the hotel's free shuttle bus to the JR Osaka Station. Then I look the limousine bus from Herbis, Osaka, a short walk from the JR Osaka Station. It was not so bad to walk to the bus stop with my heavy suitcase. Cost of the ticket was 1,550 yen and the vending machine did not accept any credit cards. It took about an hour and a half to arrive at the airport and it was a beautiful ride through the city of Osaka and beyond!
