I drove to the Anini Beach with Patrick Kelley (www.pk-worldwide.com), photographer for National Geographic who runs Kauai Photo Workshops (www.kauaiphotoworkshops.com). After shooting sunrise on the Secret Beach, we headed to the Anini Beach. It was around 8 a.m. and there was only one more person on the beach paddle boarding in the distant waters. The beach was incredibly calm and afforded great views of the coral reef that ring the island. For anybody visiting Kauai, I strongly recommend checking out this beach - it was one of my favorite beaches in Kauai and if I ever go back there, I would definitely like to spend more time on this beach!
Some facts about the Anini Beach:
Activites on this beach include swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, fishing and camping. Polo matches are also held in the summer, usually on Sundays.
The beach is equipped with restrooms, showers, pavilions, picnic tables and BBQ grills.
The beach is very safe.
4. Driving directions from Kapaa
The beach is located on the North Shore of the island of Kauai. Take Highway 56 North and drive past Kilauea town. Take the first right after Kalihiwai bridge onto Kalihiwai road. Then fork to the left. It took us about 30 minutes in the early morning hours to drive back from the Anini Beach to the Hilton Garden Inn.
Here are some pictures that Patrick took of me on the beach.
