Located on the 18 mile marker on the Kokee Road, the Kalalau Lookout offers amazing views of the Na Pali Coast, Kalalau Valley and the ocean. We arrived here after making a brief stop at the Waimea Canyon Lookout. It was the golden hour just before sunset and even though we had amazing views of the Waimea Canyon from the Waimea Canyon Lookout, at the Kalalau Lookout our view was obstructed by passing clouds. Even then I managed to get a glimpse of the stunning Na Pali Coast and the ocean below.
I strongly recommend anyone coming here to check the weather before driving up or wait long enough for the clouds to pass. It can also get a bit chilly so bring a sweater or a jacket. I have heard that the views of the Na Pali coast from above here are really stunning and it's worth the long drive here. Don't forget to stop at the Waimea Canyon Lookout and the Kokee Museum before driving up here. You can also plan on hiking the Kalalau Trail.
