I am a frequent traveler to the US and have spent long periods staying in Los Angeles. What I really like about visiting US is that cooking is reduced to a minimum, thanks to the huge variety of cooked and raw foods, available at the various supermarkets there. Here are my top 3 supermarkets in L.A.:

1. Lassens for health foods & vitamins

Even though more expensive than the other supermarkets, Lassens continues to be my favorite store for natural and health food and vitamins. One of the reasons why it may be so costly is because it is still individually owned by family members and is not a giant chain-store.

2. Whole Foods for organic foods

Whole Foods is much bigger than Lassens and carries a huge variety of organic and gluten free items. I highly recommend this store to anyone who has specific dietary needs. They also have a nice supplements and toiletries section.

3. Trader Joe's for regular food stuff

Trader Joe's is your neighborhood grocery store that carries regular food items and also a small range of organic foods. I like their organic tomato soups, frozen organic pizzas and salads. Their vegan Trail Mix cookies are to die for. I also love their coffee sampling section!
