Tromso Airport, Langnes is the international airport of Tromso located at Langnes, Norway. I flew into Langnes with Scandinavian airlines when I was visiting Tromso in March this year. The airport is relatively small but modern. I arrived in Tromso at about 7pm and was quickly able to get my luggage before taking the shuttle to my hotel Clarion, The Edge. It was snowing heavily and even though I was not wearing enough layers for the minus temperatures, thanks to the intense feeling and excitement caused by a rush of adrenaline on having at last landed in the northernmost city of the world, I didn't notice the cold at all! Tromso lies about 350km north of the Arctic Circle and it is an important tourist destination for seeing the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights.
My departure flight from Tromso was at 3:30pm. I arrived at the airport around 1pm from Lyngen after a breathtaking road trip through the fjords. The airlines asked us to self check-in and print our boarding passes and luggage tags at the check-in machines. Having had the same experience at Oslo airport, I figured out that this must be the thing to do in Norway. After dropping my bags, I still had plenty of time on my hands before the departure. Casually walking to a cafe inside the departure terminal, I asked for a cup of coffee and was surprised at how much it cost - USD6 for a small cup! Norway is very expensive, even more expensive than London I believe, anyway, I enjoyed the last of Tromso over my cappuccino gazing over the distant snow-covered fjords through the glass windows of the airport!
I made a small video from the airplane as we took off from Tromso with Scandinavian airlines.
